The Blue and White

John Latimer

John Latimer, Staff Writer

The Blue And White sees plenty of faces come and go. That’s especially true this year, as The Blue And White has a handful of new faces this year. One of those new faces is senior John Latimer. Latimer, like most new faces, hopes to leave his impact on this institution even if it’s just for a year.

Latimer joined The Blue And White because “I wanted to be a better writer and be more involved in what's going around the school from week to week.” He also spoke about the importance of journalism in today’s world. “I think that journalism plays an important role in our society and school community because it is a way for us all to stay connected during the good and bad times of our lives.”

John has a handful of hobbies which includes reading, writing, watching TV, taking care of his pet turtle and he can “put anything together.” He also has aspirations of being a veterinarian or an orthopedic surgeon. To create a path to achieve that goal, Latimer is in Apopka High School’s Medical Magnet program where he hopes he can apply his learning. As for his hopes for this year John tells us, “I think that journalism plays an important role in our society and school community because it is a way for us all to stay connected during the good and bad times of our lives.”
