The time has come! 2024 Prom is closely approaching, and Juniors and Seniors are excited to see what’s in store. To hear a variety of opinions The Blue and White interviewed multiple students attending prom. Including a few Junior Class Council officers who’ve helped plan prom.
Seeing that this is a very exciting night with filled of memories, it takes a lot of discussion and double-checking to plan for prom.
Organizing For Prom
One of the JCC officers, Junior Natalie Davis, explained what it took to decide on a prom theme. “We decided to narrow it down to ’24-karat magic,’ because a whole bunch of seniors were talking about it.” However, planning for prom doesn’t just stop there; it takes until the date of prom to finish preparing. Natalie continues, “To be honest, because there are so many factors that go into it. You have to pick the theme and what attractions, food you want, on the day or morning of prom, you have to set up so you have to figure out where you want everything and how long that’s going to take. So it takes a while.”
When asking the officers if they were satisfied with the theme they chose there were some mixed answers. Junior Shila Gillis, the JCC communications officer, said “[we did] 24-karat magic because it’s special to the class of 2024. We weren’t going to do it for any other class. So that’s how we started with that. We had an idea before that I really liked but because of everything going on in the world right now.”
Preparations For Prom
Knowing that everyone is excited for prom, The Blue and White asked students what they’re going to be wearing as well as their plans to give a general idea of where to shop and what to do that night for those who are not sure.
When asked how she plans on having fun, Senior Kaciana Lynch said, [I am] probably going to go to Waffle House or somebody’s house just for an after party, you know things like that.”
We also interviewed Senior Dwayne Clark, who is also running for court with his girlfriend Teahjana, and mentions going to prom to have fun and dance, when asked where he would recommend buying suits he said Dolce and Gabbana.
Senior Simion Rodriguez said, “Buy your suits from Men’s Wearhouse because they’ll tailor the rental suit to your size and they’re also pretty well priced.” This is a more affordable option for those who don’t want to buy a suit full price for one night.
Junior Debrah Remariez recommends David Bridal, “I plan to go with friends and have a good time!”
The Blue and White can’t wait to see everyone on the dance floor in their best outfits. Prom tickets are still on sale for 90 dollars during A and B lunch next to the cafeteria, make sure to get yours soon. As the days come closer to testing it’s important to maintain your academics. Don’t let senioritis and junioritis take away your chances for opportunities like prom.
