Propagate Social House is a hidden gem here in Apopka. It’s a cute plant-themed coffee shop that also hosts a variety of events. Propagate opened on July 24th, 2021. It’s located on 40 E 5th St, Apopka. The Blue & White decided to learn more about Propagate, and here’s what we found out:
Propagate serves a variety of drinks, food, and pastries. Right now, their food menu mostly consists of brunch foods like bagels and sandwiches. They serve coffee, tea, and seasonal drinks. For adults, they also serve beer and wine. Propagate’s menu also includes croissants, Portuguese croissants, muffin tops, and “Phat Ash” cookies. Junior Brady Braun, a customer of Propagate Social House, really likes the coffee shop and thinks “it’s a good kind of place to have in the area.” Brady enjoys the interesting tea flavors that Propagate offers, and the large cookies that are “packed full of a lot of stuff” and “perfect for people with a sweet tooth.”
Propagate Social House also holds lots of different events, like Friday Night Farmers Markets, brunches, private parties, vegan festivals, plant swaps, plant markets, etc. Cayla Dugowson, a customer and person involved in the events, found out about Propagate through social media when they were first opening. Her favorite part of being involved is “learning about all the talented entrepreneurs in the area.” Cayla said, “The more events that I’m involved with, the more people come out of the woodwork with different businesses and different events that they do. So it’s just really interesting.” Ashton Heard is another customer and person involved with Propagate and its events. Her favorite part is the people. “Whether it’s chatting with Mike, Jo, and Ella, listening to Jay’s dad jokes, or getting delicious drinks made by Caleigh, Taylor, or Amaya- there’s always a friendly face and a good time to be had with that crew,” said Ashton.
Jay Kleinrichert, one of the four owners of Propagate, said they decided to open the shop after their last business closed due to COVID. According to Jay, the owners were “looking for our next opportunity.” Since their opening, there’s been lots of remodeling and new developments. One of the biggest changes is the giant, wooden deck right beside the shop. Because of the added space, Propagate can host more events and fit more people. At events like Farmers markets, there’s live music, food trucks, and small-business vendors. The deck has “brought so much life and new opportunities to the space for sure and really grew their event presence,” says Ashton. Another big development in the works is the remodeling of Hall’s Feed Store, a pet supplies/garden store right across the street from Propagate. Right now, the plan is to turn the store into a food hall for various vendors. Jay told us they want to start construction in the next couple of weeks.
Everyone The Blue & White talked to totally recommends Propagate as a place to hang out, meet new people, and have a good time. Brady told us they recommend the coffee shop as a “place to meet up with friends or after school, especially if you like plants.” Cayla said the events are a “really good networking opportunity,” and that “you may meet someone that you had no idea lives like a couple blocks from you and has a lot of similar interests as you or sells a product that you really like.” So, if you’re looking for a new place to eat, meet up with people, or buy things, check out Propagate Social House and its events!
