Shaking it up with Shane Moody, Staff Writer
The Blue&White interviewed Shane Moody who is a sophomore at Apopka High School and staff member. We discussed his changed beliefs, life altering accomplishments, and his interest in history.
Reflect on a time when you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted your thinking? What was the outcome?
I used to question my beliefs and ideas a lot. Last year when I was in my freshman year, the ideas just seemed silly and childish sometimes so I'd have to rethink them and replan how I was going to go about things. An example would be, I guess some plan I had for engineering robotics on how I would go about building the things I was required to build. I guess just seeing how it worked and seeing how it wouldn’t work is what prompted my thinking. The outcome was usually good. Rethinking the ideas helped me finish the projects and everything that I needed to get finished quicker and more effectively.
Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.
A realization I had was over the summer leading into my 10th grade year, I had realized I was a little childish for my age and my grade so I had to think about what I was doing to make myself seem more childish and fix that but I also had to let myself be myself instead of something else.
Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging it makes you lose all track of time.
A topic that I find so engaging would be learning about history. I think it’s really interesting, and I just lose time, I don’t keep track of the time while I learn. I just think it’s interesting how all this stuff was going on before I was born and sometimes I just think about what it would be like to be in that time. [my favorite time era] I suppose [would be] the ancient time eras, I think they’re cool. One of the first few things that captivated me was reading a Percy Jackson book that made me think about Greek mythology and Greek items I suppose. I usually turn to the internet where I look up things on certain sites to try to get a better understanding or grasp on the topic.
