The Blue and White would like to introduce a wonderful Language Arts teacher, Mr. Dao Anis. He first started his teaching in the Philippines for 8 years. After this he applied to Apopka to be an exchange teacher, and he was luckily hired and has worked here for 4 years. Teaching wasn’t his first choice, but it was something that was suggested by his older brother, and when he was on his second year of teaching he realized it was something he loved. During his free time, he goes for walks in the park and chats with his friends, especially since most of them are in the Philippines, and talking with them helps him relax. Goals that he has achieved is coming to the United States alone. “Becoming a teacher in the U.S. is not easy because we have to go through a rigorous process.” His favorite thing to do when he has down time would be sleep, watching television or anything that can allow him to rest. His birthday is on September 26th and he was born in the Northern part of the Philippines, but they call it the summer capital of the Philippines because of the very good weather. 

Do you enjoy being a teacher? Why or why not?

To be honest there is joy in being a teacher, you get to connect with young people and have the power to inspire them. There are times when you face challenges like dealing with challenging students, which can bring your energy down.

What type of music do you enjoy listening to?

A variety of music. There is no specific genre but I favor pop, country, and jazz. Though it really depends on my mood.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’d love to go to Europe, there’s something interesting about the landscape. I want to see how wealthy the place is because I always see it in the media and see many interesting things. If I had to pick a specific place it would be Switzerland and the neighboring countries.

What is your favorite food?

I would have to say a dessert. I like tiramisu, especially the one from Olive Garden.

What accomplishment are you proudest of?

Being employed right after graduation from college before passing the professional examination for teachers, that’s what we called it there. This occured due to my very good academic performance so they hired me. I was also given a opportunity to mentor young teachers in the Philippines and it widened my perspective of teaching because it taught me better ways to be a good teacher.
