Getting to Know Sylvester Johnson
The Blue and White was able to interview Sylvester Johnson for this edition of Getting to Know. Sylvester is a Senior here at Apopka High School. He is the head Drum Major of the band and participates in orchestra as well. Spending 3 years at Apopka, he has enjoyed the ride. He is an incredibly talented musician and student, see what he has to say below.
What word best describes you and why?
I think the best word that describes me is driven. It’s a word that can be applied to many aspects of life whether it be physical, emotional, meaning relationships and connections, or mental, meaning learning from mistakes in terms of academics or life lessons.
What hobbies do you have outside of school?
My hobbies include listening to podcasts/lectures, working out, playing my instruments, and playing video games.
How would you describe the last 4 years you spent at Apopka? Any memorable moments or experiences you would like to share?
I actually came to Apopka my sophomore year and it’s been quite a journey. It started rocky because it was different getting assimilated to the culture but after a while, I’ve gained the blue darter spirit. Being head drum major has been the highlight thus far.
Is there anything else you would like to do before you graduate?
I just want to enjoy every experience I have while here.
What are your plans after you graduate?
I’m going to join my dad’s company to build family wealth and retire around 40.
