New Teachings with Ms. Terrazas
Apopka High School has recently made an addition to the blue darter family with our new art teacher Ariel Terrazas. She has an interesting background, having previously worked with Disney, along with other talents The Blue and White asked her introduce herself.
Why did you want to be a teacher?
I’m an art teacher so I wanted to inspire youth to enjoy art and hopefully pursue it!
What do you like so far about teaching at Apopka?
So far everyone has been really nice and helpful! As a first-year teacher, I’m glad to have the right guidance.
What are some interesting facts about you?
I can speak Japanese.
What made you want to have a career in art?
I enjoy creating things so I went with art. I also don’t like to write too many essays and hit a roadblock when it comes to mathematics. I originally had a Japanese Language and Literature major my first year of college realized most of the classes were 10 pages or more essays for a grade so I swapped my major to art.
What did you do before becoming a teacher here at Apopka?
I was working for Disney through their college program, first I was in Photo-Pass and then moved to Guest Relations. I was trying to become an Imagineer, but due to Covid I was let go. I wasn’t even with Disney for a full year.
Is there anything else you’d like students to know about you?
I’m very friendly and approachable, I’m always willing to have a conversation.
