Heather Rice, Staff Writer
My name is Heather Rice, and I am currently a sophomore at Apopka High School and am new to The Blue and White staff. I have always been active in my education, with reading being one of my main passions since I was a child. Literature is very important to me, as an escape, as a means to learn about the people around me and a way to discover myself. I take great interest in movies, specifically horror movies. Considering this, it stands to reason that my favorite holiday is Halloween. Another topic of great significance to me is politics. I show a great zeal concerning recent legislation such as Florida’s banned books and banning of various Advanced Placement courses in addition to the law commonly known as “Don’t Say Gay”. I became who I am today thanks to my mother, stepfather, and friends. My mother and stepfather have always supported me and taught me to be myself. I have a great group of friends and enjoy their company during many hours of extracurricular activities. I am extremely proud of my accomplishments so far and plan to pursue a career in the medical field once I have graduated.
