Getting to know a student at Apopka High School, The Blue and White interviewed Ava Singh, a Senior at Apopka High School. Ava Singh has lived in Apopka her entire life.
Many of you may not know that she is a well-rounded individual. She begins by telling us what she does in her free time. “A few of my favorite hobbies include crocheting, working out, practicing guard, and playing instruments (flute and electronic guitar). One of my friends got me into crocheting, she would make everything and I thought it was cool to make almost anything you want with a piece of yarn.”
In outdoor activities, she participates in Colorguard. “I chose colorguard because I was fascinated by how people can dance and spin flags at the same time. Every time I watched [the] halftime show [when I was younger], the color guard performers always caught my attention. I remember telling myself in 7th grade that I was going to learn how to spin with flags one day.”
Not only is that adorable, it shows character to be able to put your mind to something you like in order to accomplish it in the future. Ava also loves spending her time at the park, “The things I enjoy at Apopka are probably the amount of recreational areas there are. There are lots of parks over here and I love to spend my time being outdoors.”
Ava shows herself to be driven and determined when it comes to achieving her dreams. “I aspire to become successful in life and become a mental health counselor one day. [I want to] become a mental health counselor because I’ve always loved to listen to people’s stories and help people overcome the challenges that they are facing.” Although she knows what she wants to do after high school, she is not quite sure where she wants to go for college. She says, “I plan on doing Valencia for 1 year and hopefully transferring to FSU or UCF, undecided where I want to go.”
Ava Singh is not afraid to follow her passions. It’s a valuable quality that everyone can learn from.
