Treat Yourself To Apopka’s Local Eats!

If you’re like the rest of us, you get hungry from time to time. Or sometimes, you crave that kick that caffeine gives you, so that you can get through a gruesome seven hour school day. Sometimes, unfortunately, you don’t exactly know where to go. McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Starbucks? Don’t be a loser bro. There are dozens of small businesses in our town of Apopka that are happy to serve our community, and sadly not enough people are aware of them. The AHS Blue & White would like to highlight five of these local businesses so that we can not only help support these businesses, but help you decide on what you’re eating/drinking next! The businesses are in alphabetical order, and we even include some honorable mentions at the bottom.

1. Birchwood Coffee Co.

We found that Birchwood Coffee Co. has one of the most relaxing, family oriented environments, and that everytime you go, you’re going to be treated as family. Danielle Bjork, the owner and founder of Birchwood Coffee Co., invites you to come and try a well crafted latte paired with some Aunty’s peach cobbler and/or grandma’s cheesecake. Bjork is proud of her southern heritage, and mixes that pride with a dash of love when she creates her family’s famous baking recipes, most notably her grandmother’s pound cake, which complements about any cup of coffee. 2. Cafe Verona

Cafe Verona is a friendly little Italian restaurant where the staff are delighted to serve you unpretentious food; offering simple pizza, calzones and sub sandwiches, plus pasta and chicken wings. They offer delivery, but are pleased to bring the food to your table when you dine in. 3. Canon Coffee

An Apopka staple! Canon Coffee offers (as the name implies), coffee. But not just that, they have an extensive selection for breakfast foods and small snacks. Apopka High School Senior Kyle Crandall is a staff member of Canon Coffee, and a fellow coffee enthusiast himself. He and the other members of the staff at Canon are delighted to brew you a delicious cup of coffee to help get you through the day. It’s not just coffee either. Canon offers several substitute drinks, like tea, and “frozens,” which are similar to milkshakes. So stop by Canon Coffee when you get the chance! 74 W 2nd St, Apopka, FL 32703

4. Chuck Wagon Home Cooking

Breakfast and lunch you must try is located at Chuck Wagon Home Cooking. From eggs anyway you want them, to mouthwatering hashbrowns, Chuck Wagon certainly has all things breakfast. Admittedly, there are a lot of old people here, so expect to be given the stank eye by some old farts if you come in with your friends! The staff are extremely friendly folks that are excited to serve you some belly filling dishes making you want to come back for more. 5. Propagate Social House

Last but not least, is Propagate Social House! This coffee shop only opened in 2021, but over the last two years, has truly made a name for itself. This place is so cozy and welcoming that you can’t help but be happy when you walk through the door. The shop not only sells coffee, but wine (for those old enough which should go without saying), and PLANTS! Any plant you see in the store is available for purchase. Propagate occasionally hosts events and different food trucks as well.
